Birdwells are outstanding. I've been wearing them since the '60s, and they're just as comfortable, durable and classy as they were then. Buy some. You'll be glad you did. - Tad Chamberlain

The people were great. I mistakenly ordered the wrong size tee shirt. They were out of my size, but gave me a selection of other colors. As I was leaving a gentleman came up with a brand new sweater with a small tear on the seam and offered it to me. It was my size and he actually gave it to me! I'm guessing those are pretty pricey. It was a nice gesture. I've been wearing Birdwells since 1972. Couldn't recommend them more highly. Thanks

Great American brand still providing a top quality product. This is a small showroom / factory store. You enter a room with a small display and pretty soon a person greets you from the factory area. They get the products you're interested in and bring them out for you to try on. Everyone is always very friendly and knowledgeable. Never pushy. Birdwell products are all top quality and long lasting. They are the original and are still made in USA.

Come on now!! .. Birdwell Beach Britches are the best swim trunks known to man.. I have seen other reviews but this is the deal. This is an old time mom and pop kind of business with an awesome product. At times they seem overwhelmed with the business but hey.. That's a good thing, the product is the best. My most recent dealings have been with Sal and he has been great. He is a nice guy and wants his customers to be happy. He provides a very high level of service. Thanks Birdie and Sal

Easily one of my favorite shopping experiences! This is not an actual storefront but a small corner of the warehouse where Birdwell make, store and ship their shorts. We came on a Thursday morning and we’re easily able to find parking in their large lot. There is someone to greet you immediately and show you a sample rack of items (shorts, jackets, shirts, hats, towels and bags). Once you find the items you like you will ask the assistant to grab items in your size. You’ll then be able to try on the items in the bathrooms that all the employees in the warehouse share. It was very cool to be buying clothes feet away from where it was made and seeing the faces of people who sew, move and ship these items year round. One huge plus is the file drawer with shorts/shirts for half off. Nearly all of the items felt and looked fit for retail and there were some unique samples mixed in. My brother and I bought a couple of things each and we’re glad we stopped by. Having a dedicated changing room would be a minor improvement but we all enjoyed the stripped down experience and great deals.

I am an ocean lifeguard and I’ve always loved how Birdwells keep their red color for long periods of time. I called the office and had Jayme pick up the phone. She was so helpful and amazing. I bought a pair over the phone! When I came to get them, she greeted me out front and 10min later I had my new reds with patch sewn perfectly! They are taking all safety precautions. I felt so stoked to have a fresh pair to represent my department! I am so happy; thank you Santa Ana Birdwell for what you did!

8/22/2025 Seems to be going downhill. I went on birdwells website to buy more stuff and now I have to wade through foreign made stuff to fine made in usa stuff. Also think "surfstretch" fabric may be made in china. retail location closed, from the experience I had there after driving over an hour, that doesnt suprise me. Solution: Get back to basics make everything and source everything in the USA charge accordingly. If you open a retail location staff it with people with a sales focused mission, not a kick you out of the store for no mask. that has been proved to be a fraud. Make Shorts in USA Great Again!! Previous review 2022 You guys ROCK!! Love my shorts and terry long sleeve. Gonna go to the Manhatten Beach store today. Buying 1st cause you are manufactureing California USA, 2nd qualit, and 3rd best old school style i liked in the 70's ... the brand sold out and quality went to crap, style went corporate designers and "Other Peoples" shorts went away! So glad you are creating a new image in a vaine of the 70's icon when we all had 32 inch or less waists! Inseam on my new Britches is 5 inches. Old 70's 'cords is 3½ inches. Dropped a couple pounds went from 35/36 so i thought. Bought 2 pair of GBB in 34" however need a 32 so gonna get the right size and "Posh" these 34,s :-)
